Theatre Touring Company

THEA 106

Previously known as the "Teen Touring Company", TTC is now an open enrollment course for all students interested in triple-threat theatre.

This class is geared toward teaching the basics of musical theatre.  The three components of musical theatre (acting, music, and dance) are, at first, broken down for focused learning and then they are combined together through scene and song.  Students will participate in mock auditions, perform scenes/songs in class, and rehearse for upcoming performances.

DANCE: Students will be introduced to basic dance terminology and learn basic/intermediate choreography while singing.  This combination trains the brain to pick up combinations quickly while helping the ability to make adjustments on the fly and build stamina.

VOICE: Students will approach singing from an acting standpoint.  They will develop their vocal abilities, experience singing in harmony/counterpart while blending vocally within a group, and learn basic music theory/terminology.

ACTING: Basic acting vocabulary/theory will be covered and an overview of several different acting techniques (Adler, Strasberg, Meisner, Stanislavski) will be introduced as well.
