Founded in 1988, SCT performs in both a 374-seat space located on Solano Community College's main campus in Fairfield and a 175-seat intimate theatre facility on the waterfront in Old Town Suisun City. SCT houses a scene shop, property shop, costume shop and dressing areas at both facilities.
SCT presents a variety of works each year from September through May. Traditionally, SCT produces two to three musicals, two to three plays, and a host of professional work each season. These works range from easily accessible popular works, to cutting edge modern American work. All students at SCT are eligible for casting in productions, and frequently play the major leads in SCT shows.
SCT hires some of the best theatre artists in the country to work alongside its students. Professional actors, designers, and other production staff come and go throughout the year enriching SCT's productions staff, and students. From Broadway to Hollywood, SCT works to bring the best to its students and patrons.
Solano Youth Theatre is the award-winning youth division of Solano College’s celebrated conservatory theatre training program. Surrounded by dedicated educators and industry professionals, young people from all around Solano County participate in quality productions, workshops and classes. Programming is designed to strengthen communication skills, promote team building, supplement teacher’s classroom efforts and promote theatre arts. Over six hundred students perform annually in one of SYT’s two theatres for over 10,000 audience members.
